Warrior Treasures: Saxon gold from the Staffordshire Hoard. At the Royal Armouries, Leeds, from 10am. Runs until October 2. A special exhibition featuring around 100 spectacular items. Some of the objects have never been on show before.

Kirkheaton's 10th Arts Festival is running alongside the historic Yetton Rant fair. Arts event takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend from 2pm to 5pm. Hosted by Kirkheaton Church.

Get Animated! Family activities inspired by animation, at the National Media Museum, Bradford. Entry to the museum is free. Runs all week.

Saxon Style . Crafts and activities from 10am to 5pm at the Royal Armouries, Leeds. Includes re-enactments on Sunday 29 and Monday 30 May. A rare chance to see an authentic Anglo-Saxon longboat.

Heroes and heroines at National Coal Mining Museum, near Wakefield, WF4 4RH. Living history characters, activities and crafts. All week.

Saltaire Arts Trail , Victoria Road, Saltaire, BD18 3LF. Over 150 artists are showcasing their work. Family activities at five outdoor locations. All weekend.

Slung Low at The Knowledge Emporium . City Park, Bradford city centre. Free sweets in a converted caravan for those who who can 'trade' a fact or anecdote. From 10am to 5pm. All ages. Part of the Bradford Literature Festival.

Beat it, Bend it, Build it at The Hepworth, Wakefield, WF1 5AW. Family event where children can create their own sculptures. From 11am.

Open Day at Stirley Hill Community Farm. Cattle form a queue to welcome visitors to the farm.

Monday May 30

Animal Magic at National Coal Mining Museum, near Wakefield. Follow the new Animal Trail and then create animal crafts to take home. Meet some costumed characters.

Dinosaur tours and hands-on activities for children of all ages at Leeds City Museum, Cookridge Street, LS2 8BH. Continues all week.
