IF YOU are wondering how to keep your family busy this Easter, here are a few ideas of things to do.

You could begin with an egg hunt which gets underway in Clayton West today.

Hop on board the Easter Eggspress run by Kirklees Light Railway and travel by steam train from Clayton West to Shelley station.

The Easter Bunny will be waiting at the play ground to start the egg hunt. Word has it that the Bunny is feeling generous and so all those who join in will get chocolate.

There will be egg and spoon races including one for parents. Bouncy castles, donkey ride, face painting and arts and crafts activities should keep families entertained, providing the weather stays fine.

This Easter Eggstravaganza runs through until next Tuesday.

The Easter Bunny will open each day’s event at 9.45am on each day before travelling to Shelley Station with those on the 10.00am train to start the Egg Hunt. Trains will then depart Clayton West Station every half an hour until 4.00pm. To book call 01484 865727.

For children who like to get creative, try the workshops being run by Huddersfield Art Gallery on Thursday April 15 and Friday April 16.

Mapping Spaces and Making Space is aimed at children aged 8 and over.

The workshop is taking inspiration from the gallery’s current exhibition by Liadin Cooke to explore architecture and mapping.

Children will be able to take their work home.

The art gallery will be running free drawing activities and an Easter quiz, which families can drop in at any time to join in.

And don’t forget the free drop-in Lego event on Saturday April 17 from 10am-noon.

Just turn up and use Lego to build the house or structure you’ve always dreamt of.

Bagshaw Museum is also offering holiday craft sessions for children.

These are on Tuesday April 6 and children will be able to make 'bling things' from Faberge effect cards to woven jewellery baskets.

Sessions run from 1pm to 4pm and children under eight years must be accompanied by an adult.

Entry to the museum in Wilton Park is free.

It will be open throughout Easter weekend and opening times are Monday to Friday, 11am-5pm, Saturday and Sunday noon-5pm.
