Music

IT’S proms season so prepare to enjoy some music in the park.

Concert-goers will get a fantastic opportunity to hear great music in the scenic and historic setting of the Oakwell Hall walled gardens on Sunday with the Oakwell Summer Prom event.

Prom classics from Puccini, Verdi, Strauss and not forgetting Elgar’s Land of Hope and Glory and Parry’s Jerusalem are all on the bill.

The Birstall concert will feature the Mark Ostyn Orchestra and Hebden Bridge Little Theatre choir, plus Halifax Chamber Choir with soprano soloists Sue Morriss and Claire McKay.

Sunshine depending, it will provide the chance for picnicking amongst the flowers with Oakwell’s glorious setting as a backdrop to some stirring music.

Enjoy the music from 4pm to 7pm and tickets are £12 for adults, £8 for children and students, and a family ticket is available for £35.

Visitors are welcome to bring picnics and low-backed seating but are asked not to bring tables.

And remember that travel rug in case it turns chilly.
