Wannasee Festival is coming to Huddersfield

Beyond Festival, June 9 to 24, various venues in Leeds

For two weeks in June, venues across the city will be showcasing the wealth of music and art created by the many brilliant Leeds artists with learning disabilities.

More than 20 events will take place in 14 different venues, including a free pop-up afternoon event with Beautiful Octopus Club House Band, The Pyramid of Arts Singers and YAMSEN Choirs.

Long division, June 10 to 12, various venues in Wakefield

Back for its sixth year to celebrate independent and DIY music and art culture.

The main day is Saturday and headliners include Field Music, Gang of Four, Los Campesinos! and The Membranes.

Price: Tickets for Saturday vary from £15 to £38.

Huddersfield Charity Blues and Folk Festival, June 11, Ukrainian Club and The Junction Pub

Local musicians will come together to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research and Reading Matters.

Ben "Blue" Waters, The Rainey Street Band, Sonic Pye, Fishing For Compliments and Dan Greenwood are some of the acts who will play across three stages, two at the Ukrainian Club and one at the Junction.

Yorkshire Festival, June 13 to July 3, various venues in the county

This almost month long biennial returns following its inaugural event to mark the Tour de Yorkshire.

Maria de Buenos Aires will kick start the proceedings with an operita. But there will be something for fans of every genre, from Congolese act Mbongwana Star, folk act Quercus and a grime musical called Chip Shop Shakespeare.

Holmfirth Arts Festival, June 17 to 26, various venues

Flavours of the whole world will be brought to the Holme Valley during this fortnight.

Music will come from acts such as cultural chameleons Manjula, afro-latin groovers Family Atlantica, string group Sacconi Quartet and folk and poetry act Ian McMillan and Luke Carver Goss.

You will also be able to get involved through workshops dedicated to samba and the circus.

Live in Barnsley, June 18, various venues

This free festival will take over the town centre with possibly more than 60 diverse acts playing in dozens of venues.

Price: Free.

Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, June 24 to July 3, various venues

Music, theatre and dance and more collide at this annual event, which hopes to show that the town is bouncing back after the devastating Boxing Day floods.

This year’s event will be themed around ‘Trouser Town’ and tickets for the first announced act, Kate Rusby, are on sale already.

Cleckheaton Folk Festival, July 1 to 3, various venues

A celebration of Yorkshire’s rich folk talent with camping.

Demon Barber XL, Lucy Ward and a Sunday All Star Concert are some of the first to be confirmed.

Street entertainment and special events and workshops will be announced nearer the date.

Price: Early birds at £64.00 for adults and £34.00 for children aged 12 to 17. Camping is from £6.

Bradford annual Ska & Vintage Reggae Festival 2016, July 2, Amp Bar, University of Bradford

Throw your best skanking moves at this one day event, which starts at 4pm.

The line up includes sets from Uplifters, King Zepha, Natural Rhythm, Pepperjam, Selah Sounds, Trenchtown UK & The Indecision .

One World Festival , July 2, High Lea Park, New Mills

A free community festival about peace, diversity, world development and the environment.

Expect regional acts and a chilled out vibe.

Cocoon in the Park, July 9, Temple Newsam, Leeds

Back for its eighth year, this high energy dance event will have revellers dancing late into the evening.

Sven Vath, The Martinez Brothers, Green Velvet and Eats Everthing vs Patrick Topping are amongst the headliners who will be pounding beats into this normally tranquil estate.

Price: Second release for £49.50 and the final release at £52.25

Wannasee Live Music Tribute Festival, July 16, Greenhead Park

A summer festival will bring Bon Jovi, the Beatles, Bruno Mars and Queen to Greenhead Park this summer — almost.

Fake versions of the superstar acts will descend on the town for this one day festival, which organisers hope will leave music lovers feeling like they have seen something as good as the real thing.

Price: £55 adult weekend ticket.

Huddersfield Jazz Guitar Festival, July 22 to 24,

Back for a second year following the success of 2015.

Over 30 pros will entertain audiences at the Rat and Ratchet on Chapel Hill at Huddersfield Jazz Guitar Society organised event.

The festival will start with a gypsy jazz night, perhaps a nod to guitar scene hero Django Reindhart and will also include workshops and jam sessions.

Y NOT? Festival, July 29 to 31, Pikehall, Derbyshire

Bringing together some of the best top alternative acts from across the decades in the picturesque surroundings of the Peak District.

Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Editors, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Madness, Kelis and The Hives head up the bill, with around 100 other top, cutting edge acts also booked to play.

Price: £104.00 for final release weekend ticket

Leeds Festival, August 26 to 28, Bramham Park

Red Hot Chili Peppers are returning as one of the three headline acts, alongside Foals and Disclosure, who will split another top slot.

Dozens of genre-spanning acts are also included in the line up so far at one of Yorkshire’s most lively weekends.

Bingley Live, September 2 to 4, Myrtle Park

Travis, Tinie Tempah, Echo and the Bunnymen and Sigma have been announced as headline acts.

Dozens more are still to be announced and camping will be available for the first time over the weekend.

MiNT Festival, September 24, The Tetley, Leeds

Now in its fifth year, organisers have this time decided to swap the green fields of Wetherby for the city centre to explore the burgeoning genre of electronic music.

Expect house, techno, garage, grime and everything in between, with some of the top acts including Jamie Jones, Adam Beyer, Kerri Chandler and Toddla T.

Price: Earlybirds are £38.50, first release will be £44 and the final release will be £49

Marsden Jazz Festival, October 7 to 9, various venues

Celebrate top national and international acts for the festival’s 25th event, who span not just jazz but other genres such as swing, big band and blues.

Street entertainment will also feature heavily, as well as events specifically for children.

Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival

It is the go to festival for the best and off-the-wall international contemporary music.

This year festival director Graham MacKenzie hopes to pull off a series of big bookings.
