THE FESTIVE season for members of Paddock Orchestra perhaps begins on Saturday next week.

2.30pm, just the time to attract families and people who don’t care to venture out on the darker evenings.

There will be much to warm hearts, courtesy of a programme which includes Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and Mozart’s Symphony No 40.

The orchestra, under the baton of their young conductor Tom Newall, has also decided to play excepts from Handel’s Messiah.

They hope some of the audience at least will be singers, who may well take along their own Messiah scores and sing.

Tom, also a talented singer, will double his duties by being one of two vocal soloists. Alongside him will be his conducting deputy, Barbara Bancroft, who shares Tom’s talent for singing.

The festive air will continue with Christmas music and carols.

The ticket price of £5 includes a mince pie! The concert is half- price for children and tickets are available on the door.
