PHOTOGRAPHER Martin Stainsby has left behind a career as a chartered engineer to indulge in his passion for photography.

And the Greetland photographer is about to launch his first exhibition.

He described the career move as “daunting but exciting” and is looking forward to his work going on show.

Martin said: “I’ve been a passionate photographer for many years and my landscape and flower images have constantly been in demand, so after a successful career as a chartered engineer I decided this year to go into photography full-time.”

His first exhibition, at the Dandelion and Burdock restaurant in Sowerby Bridge, consists of 12 fine art prints all taken within the Calderdale area.

Martin added: “When we have the Dales, Peak District and North Yorkshire Moors so close to hand, as well as the South Pennines, it is too easy to overlook what is on your doorstep, so I thought it would be interesting to show a collection of images taken in and around Calderdale.”

His collection is on show at the Dandelion and Burdock restaurant in Sowerby Bridge until the end of June.
