Cult nineties drama Twin Peaks is set to return to TV screens with nine brand new episodes to mark the show's 25th anniversary.
Original creators David Lynch and Mark Frost have confirmed they will produce a third series of the Golden Globe-winning programme due to air on Showtime in 2016.
The eerie show, which first aired 1990-1991, explored the murky goings-on in a small US town after its teenage homecoming queen, Laura Palmer, was murdered.

Writer David Lynch also teased fans on Friday with this cryptic Tweet before the comeback was confirmed.
Details of the series' plot are being kept under wraps, but will follow on from the events of series two.

The show acquired a cult following in the nineties due to its dark nature and surrealism, and many fans will no doubt be on tenterhooks to discover what the third series has in store.
