Autumn is fast approaching so thoughts turn to the riches of what’s to come in music, theatre – and film – this season.

It’s just days to go to the start of the 47th season of the Halifax Film Society.

The first show at the Playhouse Theatre is on October 7 (7.30pm) and it’s the delightful French comedy, Untouchable.

The season includes two special events.

The first is a Halloween Double Bill on October 20 when Sightseers and Berberian Sound Studio will be screened.

The second event is on March 16 when Alan Whicker’s interview with Percy Shaw and Jubilation, extracts from a film recording the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Calderdale, will be shown.

Clifford Lees, of Appleyard Lees, Percy’s patent agents, and members of Percy Shaw’s family will attend as guest speakers.

There’s much more in a busy season. Full details contact 01422 355990 or 01422 348863
