Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival boasts cuisines from around the world — and offers the perfect opportunity to try something new.
From spicy curies to juicy burgers, specialist cheese to Jamaican curried goat, you’ll be spoiled for choice at the four-day event.
To help you decide what to eat, we’ve round up 10 exciting dishes or foods on offer at this year’s festival - see what whets your appetite!
1. Paella
Try a bit of Spain’s national dish from BellaPaella, comprising of paella rice cooked in stock with vegetables, meat and seafood. If you close your eyes you could be on a bustling street in Barcelona or relaxing in a restaurant in Madrid! You can even round it off with Spanish dessert - churros!
2. Jerk chicken
If you like a bit of spice, you’ll love jerk chicken, a Jamaican speciality. Other Jamaican dishes on offer include curried goat.
3. Mussels
Enjoy a taste of France with some mussels from the Mussel Pot - usually served in a cream and white wine broth. Ooh la la!
4. Gyros
The Greek Street Food Store is serving up gyros — meat cooked on a vertical rotesseries, served in flatbread with salad and tzatiki sauce.
5. Breads and pastries from the Med
Head to Mediterranean delights for a savoury treat with a difference.
6. Calamari
Many people try calamari by accident, assuming them to be onion rings. Done right, they're even better! El Cubano/Cod Do Batter are serving up calamari, battered and fried squid rings.
7. Curry
Spicy curries, Indian flavours, samosas and bhajis are served fresh at the festival.
8. Thai spices
You can also enjoy a taste of Malaysia, with spicy noodles, curries and gluten free and vegan options from Dapur Malaysia.
9. Mega burgers
With Cowboys Burgers, Bolster Moor Farm Shop, Round Green Farm Venison and the Real Beef Burger Co confirmed, you’ll never be too far from a flame-grilled juicy burger.
10. A quacking-good meal
Take a break from chicken and give duck a try, with stalls offering duck dishes including wraps with duck, cucumber, spring onions and hoisin sauce.
