It will be the talk of the town.

That’s the promise from bosses behind Huddersfield’s latest restaurant which was unveiled to the public for the first time at the weekend – and expects to serve up to 4,000 diners a week.

The Chinese Buffet, based in the former Peter’s department store in King Street, cost £750,000 and has created around 50 new jobs.

Its planned opening in November was put back due to construction delays.

And there were a few teething problems ahead of Saturday’s opening.

An electrician had to be called out as an emergency after a tripped fuse led to some problems with the cooking equipment.

Despite this Paolo Hu, one of the directors, said he was sure that diners would be impressed.

“It’s a very stunning restaurant and one of the best, if not the best, we’ve done so far.

“I think it will be the talk of the town.”
