Thornton's Marvellously Magnificent Egg - £25

A monster of an egg made for sharing, because not even the most ardent chocoholic could munch their way through all this without help. It’s 850g of pure, yummy Thornton’s chocolate, but the egg is hollow and there are no surprises.

Value for money: Feeds a lot of chocolate addicts, but more content than style. 3/5

Thornton’s Caramel Cheesecake egg, £15

Thornton's Caramel Cheesecake egg - £15.00
Thornton's Caramel Cheesecake egg - £15.00

Unfortunately, Thornton’s seem to have fallen into the trap of taking a perfectly nice chocolate egg and spoiling it with a gimmick. While the chocolate is good quality and the biscuit pieces – found encased in the shell of the egg – are not unpleasant, it’s disappointing. Even the caramel pieces on the front couldn’t lift our spirits. The range also includes Eton Mess and Hazelnut Brownie eggs.

Value for money: Despite it being a large egg, it would have been nice to have had some truffles or other small chocolates included. 3/5
