The 2016 edition of the Good Beer Guide is out — and Huddersfield has its fair share of recommendations.

The Guide, published by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) last week, features 11 new breweries and 85 new pub entries for the Yorkshire region.

And seven Huddersfield pubs are helping to put our town on the real ale map in the new guide.

The Rat and Ratchet and the HDM Beer Shop are also connected to two successful Huddersfield breweries, as the trend for in-house microbreweries in traditional pubs continues.

Huddersfield has seen a plethora of microbreweries spring up across town, including Golcar, Mallinsons, Magic Rock, Empire, Briggs, Hand Drawn Monkey, Linfit, Milltown, Nook, Rat and Riverhead.

Huddersfield enjoyed two new entries in the Good Beer Guide brewery section — The Bridge in Holmebridge, alongside Here Be Monsters brewery in Scholes , was one of 11 Yorkshire brewhouses making their debut.

The UK now has more than 1,400 breweries, leading to 11,000 different ales on offer to drinkers, said the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra).

Research for its Good Beer Guide showed a huge range of beers being brewed, including porters, stouts, fruit beers and beverages aged in wine and whisky casks.

Local versions of Belgian-style beers are also being brewed, but the most popular ales are “truly British beer”, said Camra.

The success for Huddersfield in the Good Beer Guide comes after The Fleece in Barkisland was crowned Yorkshire's Favourite Pub in a Welcome to Yorkshire competition.

The Fox and Goose in Hebden Bridge, Millers Bar in Brighouse and the Shibden Mill Inn in Halifax also made it onto the Welcome to Yorkshie Delicious Ale Trail.
