Fried chicken fans can indulge in a tasty lunch for just £1 this week — and support a good cause at the same time.

Marston's chicken shop, in Leeds Road, Huddersfield, has brought back its popular £1 lunch offer to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Today and tomorrow, a drumstick or thigh piece and chips plus a garlic dip will cost just £1, instead of £3.05, with every penny going to the charity.

A similar offer last August raised more than £3,000 for Kirkwood Hospice to celebrate Marston's 30th anniversary.

We sent our reporter Dave Himelfield to Marston's yesterday to see what the £1 looked like.

Dave said: "No-one has any right to complain about a box of fried chicken and chips that costs £1.

"And I'd eat Marstons over KFC or most fried chicken joints any day - the quality of the ingredients is obviously better.

As a spice fiend maybe next time I'll anoint it with a bit of hot sauce. Cluck cluck!"
