Kirkburton Beer Festival returns this weekend, with real ales, ciders, entertainment and a village fair.

The annual two-day event supports Scouting and Guiding Kirkburton, as well as other selected charities — and promises beer at just £2 a pint.

Glyn Phillips, a member of the organising committee, said around 500 people turned out for last year's festivities.

"It's not just a beer festival, the Saturday afternoon is very much a family day, we have stalls for the children.

"The beers are from breweries in Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Bradford and Halifax — we like to support local brewers. And we couldn't run it without our sponsors, we're grateful to them."
