Standing 50 cm tall and weighing 4.5kg, the Bettys Imperial Easter Egg is a sight to behold.

In this mouth-watering Easter video, you can watch the giant egg being delicately taken from its mould, hand-decorated and placed on a chocolate base and wrapped up ready for sale.

Bettys, the Yorkshire company behind the famous tearooms in Harrogate, Ilkley, Northallerton and York, makes these bespoke eggs every Easter.

Named after the Imperial Suite on the first floor of its Cafe Tea Rooms in Harrogate, the hand-crafted eggs contain 5.4 kilos of the finest Grand Cru Swiss chocolate.

Each egg is hand decorated with sugar flowers individually created and painted by highly skilled cake decorators at the Bettys Craft Bakery in Harrogate.

The Imperial range includes milk or dark chocolate eggs: the Spring Flowers Egg or the Sweet Pea Egg.

But —brace yourself — these giant, luxurious eggs cost £200-£250 EACH.

Family-run Bettys has been hand-crafting Easter eggs for almost 100 years, keeping alive the skills of its founder, Swiss Master Chocolatier Frederick Belmont.

The team of chocolatiers make around 24,000 eggs for the shops at Bettys six cafe tea rooms and for its online shop.

Of course, if your budget doesn't quite stretch to £250 Easter eggs, there's lots of chocolate treats on sale that will be kinder to your wallet.
