Specialist food and drink producers from across Kirklees were among the winners at the 2016 Great Taste Awards.
From cooling ice creams to fiery sauces and fruity drinks to premium coffees, businesses across Huddersfield and district have cooked up the best.
Huddersfield companies supplying quality coffee from around the world tickled the taste buds of judges in this year’s Great Taste Awards.
Food and drink producers from across Yorkshire were given one, two or three star ratings for their fare in the annual competition.
Bewley’s UK won no fewer than 10 awards – with the firm’s Fortnum & Mason Panama Esmeralda Special coffee and Fornum & Mason Las Lajas Red Honey coffee both securing three-star status. Its other winners included six coffees marketed under its Grumpy Mule brand.
Dark Woods Coffee was awarded three stars for its signature coffee blend called Under Milk Wood and one star for its Colombia Finca El Tormento coffee.
It’s the latest accolade for Dark Woods Coffee, which earlier this year won an award for the design of its coffee packaging from the Speciality Coffee Association of America. Harrods is also selling Dark Woods coffee in the department store’s prestigious food halls – making Dark Woods the only other coffee brand sold at the Knightsbridge store apart from Harrods’ own brand.
Holme Valley-based Fruity Tipples, headed by Kevan Baldwin, was double a winner with its cranberry vodka and raspberry vodka drinks.
And Outlane -based Fudgerrific gained a one-star award for its creme brulee fudge.
Cleckheaton butchers Metcalfe’s Beef & Pork Ltd was a one-star winner for its stand pie.
