Grab your gas mask and your dancing shoes and head for Dewsbury Town Hall.

For that’s where on September 28, there will be a 1940s dance night, one that its organisers hope will be long remembered.

Part of that may well be down to the appearance of Lola Lamour, long regarded as one of the premier 1940s style singers in the country.

This is a rare Northern appearance for Lola who will sing two sets featuring favourite tunes. She’s sure to get everybody up and dancing.

Specialist 1940s DJ Big George will also be keeping everyone up on their feet to the songs that defined the sound of the 40s and remain popular today. Leading the dances and helping novices with the steps will be The Andersons.

There will be a large dance floor with cabaret style tables in a room dressed in the style of time.

The dress code is simply to look your best. Everybody is encouraged to come along in 1940s outfits to really set the scene.

There will be a bar plus hot refreshments and a house photographer will be on hand to take snaps.

Tickets are £12.50 from the Kirklees box office on 01924 324501, 01484 223200, or 01484 222333.
