THERE’S a special comedy night at the Peacock Lounge in Huddersfield on Sunday.

It’s aimed at those who work in the licensed trade and didn’t get time to party with colleagues over Christmas. But this weekend’s gig at The Huddersfield Laughter Lounge is also open to the public.

Heading the billing is Steve Day (pictured), an engaging comedian who can conjure up laughs while dealing with the dilemmas of being a deaf man in a hearing world.

His stories of multiple children, wearing a suit and the problems caused by not knowing how words are pronounced will have audiences in raptures, and his uplifting tales of overcoming the obstacles in his path will leave crowds feeling inspired.

Steve is a favourite at venues across the UK and abroad, and is establishing himself as one of the most popular and respected acts on the circuit. His has become a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4, contributing regular to You And Yours, featuring in a half-hour special of No Triumph, No Tragedy, the radio programme which focused on disabled people who have bucked the odds and achieved outstanding success in a variety of fields.

Steve also starred alongside Caroline Quentin and Patricia Routledge in The Sound Barrier.

Tickets at £12 or £10 in advance from The Peacock Lounge, Sleepers Bar or Wall Of Sound Records.
