IT HAS proved a winner with audiences and that’s before a note has been played.

Hepworth Band asked concertgoers to help plan its By Request concert which is on Sunday (February 5) at St Paul’s Hall in Huddersfield.

The result is a programme which promises something for everyone.

There are popular classics, pop hits, movie themes and hymn tunes.

The wide range of requests has included Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, Puccini’s Nessun Dorma, and Wagner’s Procession to the Cathedral, film music from Pirates of the Caribbean and Dances with Wolves plus popular songs Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue, Bridge Over Troubled Water and the Ashokan Farewell.

The band will also include at least two marches, Imperial Echoes and British Bandsman and Contest Field, known in the banding world as BB&CF plus the hymn tunes Light of the World and Deep Harmony.

It all adds up to a great evening of music making. The concert starts at 7pm and tickets are £6 from Kirklees Box Offices, Wm Sykes & Sons Estate Agents, Holmfirth and the White Horse Inn, Jackson Bridge.
