Holmfirth-born actor and comedian Kieran Hodgson is in the running for an award.

He has been shortlisted for the Best Comedy Show in the 2016 lastminute.com Edinburgh Comedy Awards, and is competing against seven others for a cash prize of £10,000.

Kieran has been selected for his show, Maestro, which is about falling in love and trying to write a symphony.

Nica Burns, director of the awards, said: “2016 reflects the breadth and quality of comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe with eight nominations for Best Comedy Show for the second year running.

“Our hard-working judging team made over 1,400 visits to shows. Congratulations to all the comics at the festival for a brilliant year of comedy.”

The winners will be announced on Saturday, August 27.
