It's set to be one of the most talked about shows the spring season.

There’s a cracking cast lined up and the show is big on the ah factor and has songs that you will know by heart.

So what’s missing from The Sound of Music, Huddersfield Light Opera Company’s next big musical?

Just one thing – a young performer to be part of one of the most famous families in music, the von Trapps.

Two teams of children have already been recruited to play the younger members of the family.

Now all the company needs is to find the perfect performer to play Friedrich, the eldest of the von Trapps.

The Light want a Friedrich who is aged about 14, is between 1.5m and 1.7m tall (remember the Von Trapps when they stand in line?) and he must have an unbroken treble voice.

If he can hit a top G that’s all the better.

The show goes on at the Lawrence Batley Theatre from April 28 to May 3 and whoever plays Friedrich must be able to rehearse during the Easter holidays.

He will be joining a terrific cast.

Laura Crowther, who wowed audiences in the Light Opera’s production of Hot Mikado earlier this year, returns to play the plum role of Maria with the talented Neil Broadbent as Captain von Trapp.

There’s a welcome return to the LBT stage too for Julia Garbutt who will play the Mother Abbess.

And there are plenty more casting treats with Paul Bennett, Sharon Whitehead, Helen Woodhead and many others packing the company with talent.

If you know a young performer who might be the Friedrich the company is looking for, send their details to SOM@hloc.co.uk

Bookings open on December 1 and if you’re a fan of the Light’s panto (and who isn’t) get January 11 to 18 in your diary. And make a date with Aladdin.
