AN AUCTION and a Last Night Of The Proms concert are being organised to raise funds for Meltham Church.
The auction comes first in the parish church hall at St Bartholomew’s on September 27. At least 30 items will go under the auctioneer’s hammer from 7.30pm and items donated so far include three long weekend cottage breaks in the Lake District, on the Yorkshire coast and in Norfolk.
Original water colour and oil paintings will also be auctioned alongside a host of other items.
To follow that, the church has organised another Last Night Of The Proms’ style concert which will be in the church on Saturday October 11 at 7.30pm.
Meltham and Meltham Mills Band will play and the well-known contralto Jane Hobson (pictured) is the soloist.
Tickets for both events are available from Scotty’s Barbers, Market Place, Meltham, price £4 for the auction (including supper) and £6 for the concert or from church or band members.
