IT IS usually brass band music that can be heard coming from the bandroom at Slaithwaite.
But on May 30, the music on offer will have a distinctive jazz feel. The Jazz Cardinals, who went down well at last autumn’s Marsden Jazz Festival, will return to the Colne Valley for a bandroom blast of a concert which starts at 8.30pm.
Tickets are £5 from the bandroom or band members. As for the band, they will be action at the bandroom next weekend in a fundraising concert in support one of its own members.
One of its young musicians is travelling to Peru with his college and his mates in the band are trying to help him raise the money he needs.
That concert is on May 16, the music starts at 8pm and there will be a collection and a raffle. And conductor Barry Hudson has put up one of his paintings to be auctioned. That’s the kind of backing you can expect in banding.
