They are brothers-in-law, good friends and have appeared on stage in many musical shows.

So it will come as little surprise to many who support amateur theatre in Huddersfield that this talented twosome is rapidly winning fans for a whole new enterprise.

If you’ve seen a musical or pantomime in Huddersfield, Marsden or Brighouse in recent years, chances are you will have seen Chris Comber or Dom Moccia or quite possibly both.

Now they are gaining a new reputation and new audiences with their latest venture, the cabaret act My Shadow and Me.

They came up with the idea over a year ago following their performance of the song, Me and My Shadow in the annual Marsden Summer Show.

It received so much acclaim that they decided to put an act together performing numbers from the golden age of swing, among others.

After many months of rehearsals they have started performing in clubs and at private functions where their unique style is proving to be a huge hit with audiences of all ages. Dom and Chris say: “It’s been great fun finding material for our act.

“Most of the songs we perform were written before our parents were born but still sound great which shows just how wonderful the songs are.”

The obvious enjoyment that they both get from performing is down to their love of singing and entertaining and a huge appreciation for the icons that have inspired their music. Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Andy Williams and more recently Michael Bubl amongst many others.

In addition to being long-standing friends the new team is very much a family affair as Dom is married to Chris’s sister, Holly, who is also no stranger to Huddersfield audiences as she is a talented musical performer too.

Dom says: “Chris and I have appeared together numerous times on stage and have a great natural rapport between us. My Shadow and Me has given us a great way of expressing our individual personalities whilst performing as a close harmony duo.”

Between gigs with My Shadow and Me the pair are still involved with musical theatre and both rehearsing for shows.

Dom will be playing Abanazer in Huddersfield Light Opera’s production of Aladdin in the New Year and appearing as Roger in Grease for Woodhouse Amateur Operatic Society.

Meanwhile Chris is playing Mowgli in the Yorkshire Avalanche Dodgers’ annual pantomime which this year is a typically loose adaptation of the Jungle Book written by Peter Armitage.
