THERE will be more than a whiff of nostalgia in the air at Huddersfield Town Hall tomorrow night.

For in a concert uniting the talents of Honley Male Voice Choir and Hepworth (Cookson Homes) Band, tribute will be paid to the Battle of Britain victory 70 years ago.

Autumn Glory seems a perfect title for a concert which will see the audience encouraged to join in favourite wartime songs such as White Cliffs Of Dover, We’ll Meet Again, Pack Up Your Troubles and It’s a Long Way to Tipperary. The band will play two pieces from the second war period , A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square which features a trombone solo by Peter Moore and the famous Dambusters March by Eric Coates.

Tomorrow’s concert will also be part of 123Sing! a massive, nationwide festival of singing being backed by Classic FM.

The ideas is to get the nation to raise its voice on the first three days of October and to raise money for charity.

Part of the concert proceeds will go to Classic FM’s charity Music Makers which provides music education and therapy for disadvantaged children and adults in the UK.
