HEAD for Birkby tomorrow (December 8) to support a local charity and have a helping of festive fun at the same time.
A Christmas fayre at St Cuthbert’s Church from 11am to 1pm will raise much needed funds for the Huddersfield-based charity, Music and the Deaf.
The charity, which helps people with a hearing loss to enjoy music, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary next year.
Tomorrow there will be live music by the Huddersfield Deaf Youth Orchestra and the Singing and Signing Choir from Hepworth Junior and Infant School.
The groundbreaking orchestra is run by Music and the Deaf working with Kirklees Music School.
Dr Paul Whittaker, the charity’s artistic director, runs the Singing and Signing choir which he will conduct tomorrow.
Next year, the charity will set up a new project, the Kirklees Singing and Signing Community Choir for which it is looking for funds and sponsorship.
If you think you can help, contact the charity on 01484 483115 or go to the website, www.matd.org.uk.
