IT PROMISES to be a real Christmas cracker of a concert.

Three organisations packed with some of the best musical talent in the area will be sharing a stage in Huddersfield next month to raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charity this year, the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Trust.

The young singers and musicians will be filling Huddersfield Town Hall with festive and fun music on Sunday December 9 to get everyone’s Christmas season off to a happy start.

It’s an afternoon concert which should give families a chance to hear the young singers of Huddersfield Choral Society Junior Choirs and Lindley Junior School Choir and the musicians of Kirklees Youth Symphony Orchestra.

It is a busy time for all three young music-making organisations.

For the Choral’s young singers, it will be a second visit to the Town Hall in a matter of days. They will also be guesting at Huddersfield Choral Society’s own Christmas concert on December 7.

Kirklees Youth Symphony Orchestra is just back from performing at London’s Royal Albert Hall where it got rave reviews for its performance in the Music for Youth Schools Prom.

Its busy schedule continues. On the same weekend that it plays in Huddersfield, it will also be on stage across the district in Dewsbury Town Hall taking part in a Christmas Concert featuring all the ensembles from the Dewsbury/Mirfield Music Centre.

They have a string of other festive concert dates too so check their website.

Tickets for the town hall concert are available from Kirklees Box Offices by phone, in person or on-line 01484 223200 or www.kirklees.gov.uk/townhalls
