THEY’RE a champion brass band promoting the contemporary cause.

Diggle Band will merge their traditional brass with the contemporary sound of Mnozil Brass.

Sharing a stage, the two bands will perform at Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday, November 6.

A performance from current North East Area Champions for Section 2, Diggle Band will be followed by the contemporary sound of Mnozil Brass.

The seven members of Monzil are all graduates of the Vienna School of Music. As well as being top brass musicians, they are all excellent singers and combine virtuoso musicianship, unusual repertoire and offbeat humour.

Mnozil is the name of the pub opposite the college where the group all studied. Once a month it opened its doors for jam sessions, known as Musikanten Stammtisch and anyone who wished to could play and sing – which was how Mnozil Brass formed.

Spurred on by enthusiastic reactions to their playing the group developed its own unique repertoire and was soon taking bookings at venues worldwide.

Diggle Bandmaster Brian Taylor said: “When I first saw Mnozil Brass I was absolutely knocked out.

“It’s not just a music concert, it’s a show. Between pieces they burst into song and they are very funny, even though they don’t speak throughout. Neither do they have a conductor nor music on stage.

“Their show is called Magic Moments and there is never a dull moment when they are on stage.”
