HECTIC times for Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band which has just returned to the UK after playing in Austria and Italy.

Tomorrow the band will be in London attempting to retain its National brass band title.

Next weekend, the musicians are in Huddersfield playing a concert at the Town Hall with guests, the Rothwell Temperance Band.

The concert, on Saturday, October 27 is called Britain Celebrates and includes music from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Yeoman of the Guard, tunes by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber as well as music by Elgar, William Walton’s Crown Imperial, plus British Sea Songs.

On its weekend in Austria and Italy, the band played works from its latest CD, War of the Worlds which is available from its headquarters.

With finals fast approaching, the band’s professional conductor David King also opted to perform the chosen test piece, Daphnis and ChloeŠby Ravel which went down hugely well with the European audiences.

Let’s hope it goes down equally well with competition judges.
