THEY are two of the area’s best known musical organisations and next month they will combine their talents to raise money for a local good cause.

The musicians of Hepworth Band and the singers of New Mill Male Voice Choir will give a joint concert in St Paul’s Hall in Huddersfield on Sunday October 7 at 7pm.

It’s a chance to hear two of the Holme Valley’s leading musical ensembles in a programme that will include something for everyone from original brass and male voice music to film scores and popular classics.

The concert is in aid of the New Mill Royal British Legion so it is fitting that it will open with The British Legion, the official march of the Royal British Legion.

The band’s programme will include music from the film, Gladiator, composer Malcolm Arnold’s Siciliano from his Little Suite for Brass and John Williams’ rousing Olympic Fanfare.

From the choir, expect to hear a diverse programme from the Everly Brothers hit, Let It Be Me, to The Rhythm of Life and traditional favourites, Love Could I Only Tell Thee and Llanfair.

Together, the band and choir will perform, Of Arms and Peaceful Men and An American Trilogy.

Tickets are £6 from William Sykes & Sons Estate Agents, Holmfirth, the White Horse Inn, Jackson Bridge and from the band and choir.
