LOVE is in the air, according to the choir behind a spring concert in Honley next weekend.

With a royal wedding just weeks ago, Honley Ladies Choir thought it would celebrate early with a programme of romantic music.

Expect to hear classical pieces, some popular, some just plain sentimental, setting the mood ready for the big day.

The Ladies Choir’s big day is March 19 at St Mary’s Church in Honley at 7.30pm, so join them for Love Is In The Air.

Some new members will certainly be joining them for their first concert with Honley.

Sixteen new ladies turned up for the choir’s open evening earlier this year.

More than half of them will be singing with the choir a week tomorrow.

“We were delighted that so many people came to try us out and even more pleased that so many of them have now joined us,” said Glenys Beardsell, the Choir’s meeter and greeter.

“We have always had a loyal core of stalwarts but an influx of new ladies is very welcome and we are now busy preparing for our first concert together.

“So far the mix of “old” and new is blending very well and we hope our audience will enjoy the freshness this brings to our singing.”

Emily Reaves, the choir’s musical director, will be the soloist.

She has her own Mrs Sunderland Competition success story winning several classes including the prestigious Samuel Firth Rose Bowl.

So far 2011 looks like being a good year for Honley Ladies and their Love Is In The Air concert should be all the proof they need.

Tickets for the concert cost £6.00, including refreshments, and can be obtained via the Choir’s website www.honleyladies.co.uk or on the door.
