IT IS a novel title for a novel event.

MP3 is not a piece of modern music kit but tongue in cheek shorthand for Music, Pate and Puddings in the Parlour otherwise an evening with pianist Keith Swallow and friends.

The Holme Valley musician will be playing at an event in North Kirklees on Saturday, February 6, to raise money for the rebuilding fund of Thornhill Parish Church.

Keith, who has appeared in many broadcast concerts, is a skilled accompanist as well as soloist. He has been accompanist at the BBC Young Musician events and is the accompanist for the Colne Valley Male Voice Choir.

At next Saturday’s concert, which is at the home of David and Kate Currie in Netherton, Wakefield, he will play classical pieces and accompany three friends with church connections.

They are Bethany Rosamond, a 13 year old singer from Horbury who sings with Wakefield Youth Choir, performs with Crigglestone Theatre Company and Horbury School; Ann Wilkes from Huddersfield who is a student at Greenhead College and sings with the Huddersfield Choral Society Youth Choir and Tom Waltham, the music teacher from Thornhill’s church school.

Tom is a member of the Miscellany singing group run by Cath Stevenson of Shepley.

Supper is included in the £15 ticket cost. Call Tony Ridley on 01924 465329 for tickets and details of the venue. Tickets must be bought in advance.
