ROGER Fisher is an organist of international repute and he will be playing in Brighouse later this month.

Roger was organist and master of the Choristers at Chester Cathedral for 30 years until the mid Nineties.

He then retired from the post in order to concentrate on his recital work.

A frequent broadcaster and recording artist, Roger has toured in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Canada.

On Friday, April 30, he will return to Brighouse Parish Church where he will be giving a recital of music spanning the changing styles from Bach to the French Romantics.

It is almost 30 years since Roger last played at St Martin’s in Brighouse but many still remember the recital he gave to raise funds for the rebuilding of the church’s West Gallery chamber organ.

It is this organ that Roger will use to play a number of pieces by composers of the 17th century.

The larger works from the 19th and 20th centuries, that form the major part of the programme, will be played on the church’s principal organ.

Tickets are on sale at Fawcetts Stationers on Commercial Street and at the church door on the night. Proceeds from this recital will be given to the Vicar’s Fund for the St James Mission, Zimbabwe
