Hip hop legends Wu Tang Clan are to headline a Yorkshire festival this summer.

The ground-breaking rap group have been unveiled as the final headliner at Sheffield’s Tramlines festival, which will take place between July 24 to 26.

They will be joined by electronic dance duo Basement Jaxx and rockers The Charlatans at an event that will bring together music heroes of the past with cutting edge new artists.

And all will perform on a new and larger main stage that has moved from the city’s Devonshire Green to Ponderosa Park.

The lengthy line-up also includes veterans such as Martha Reeves, Billy Bragg, Mike Skinner and Sugarhill Gang and celebrated new artists such as performance poet Kate Tempest and post punk three piece, Shopping, who will play at dozens of other venues around the city.

A host of Leeds-based bands will also play, such as Lone Wolf, Bruising and Hey Sholay.

Tickets cost £33 from the Tramlines website at www.tramlines.org.uk .
