Holmfirth Musical Festival's 69th annual competition saw young musicians come together to show off their talents.

Held at Holmfirth Civic Hall, October 16-18, the competition saw 39 prizes awarded, including the coveted Holmfirth Millenium Trophy, designed to encourage young musicians to continue their pursuit of musical excellence.

It was adjudicated by Steven Roberts and Dr Geoffrey Lockwood and Sue Ogden accompanied the young musicians.

The winners were as follows:

  • The Holmfirth Millennium Trophy and £250 prize: Imogen Davey playing flute

Special prizes:

  • The Louise Hinchcliffe Trophy for the most promising young vocalist: Molly Mellor
  • The Directors Cup for most enjoyable performance of the day: The Holme Valley Music Centre (Holmfirth) Guitars
  • The Leslie Kendall Green 60 Jubilee Award for most outstanding vocalist of the competition: Laura Wood
  • The Winifred Brook Trophy for most meritorious performance in pianoforte: Kitty Byrne
  • The Holme Valley Trophy: Nicole Jessop
  • The Netherthing Zion Trophy: Michael Gee
  • The J Martyn Wilcock Memorial Trophy: Ainslee Farrar
  • The Ridings Trophy: Imogen Davey
