It's official -  the enigma that is Prince could is heading to Leeds next month.

The mysterious singer and his band, 3rd Eye Girl, are set to play a gig in Leeds on May 23, Leeds First Direct Arena has confirmed,  after shows in Birmingham on May 15, a return to Manchester on May 16, and a stop in Glasgow on May 22.

Arena general manager Ben Williams said: "We are delighted that we have been included on the tour for such an iconic artist.

"This show is not to be missed, it’s an amazing opportunity to see one of the biggest names in music in Yorkshire for the first time in nearly two decades."

Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday - and are likely to sell out fast.

Rumours of the Leeds gig stormed Twitter ahead of the confirmation, with the hashtag #Princewatch trending on the social network.

His dedicated fans, who use the #Princearmy hashtag on Twitter, are sure to be first in line for tickets - but they don't come cheap.

While prices for the Leeds date have not been announced, tickets for Prince's Birmingham show are priced between £72-£138.
