The work of a cult US band is to be reissued in Holmfirth for Record Store Day.

brothers Jonny and Tim Forster of Encierro Records have sinched a deal to release a vinyl single by New York punk-blues stylers Chrome Cranks, a major influence of the White Stripes, which will go on sale on April 16.

Bob Bert of Sonic Youth and Pussygalore, Jerry teal of the Honeymoon killers and Peter arron, who promoted early shows by Nirvana and Flaming lips are all members of the band.

They agreed for Encierro to use their song Rubber Rat for the A side and have chosen their cover of ‘Street Waves’ by post punkers Pere Ubu for the B side.

Jonny said: “It’s pretty exiting really.

“We contacted the Chrome Cranks as we’re long time fans and asked them if we could reissue something by them for Record Store Day and they were more than happy with the idea and we stuck a deal.

“It will be the first time the B side has appeared on vinyl. It will be on red vinyl 7” with a sleeve that opens diagonally down the middle.”
