She's hoping to become a teenage singing star.

And Fenay Bridge’s Daisey O’Donnell is preparing for an arena performance in front of industry experts.

Daisey, 16, is through to the final of the Teenstar singing competition which takes place at Birmingham NEC on July 25.

It will be a chance for the former Shelley College student to showcase her musical ability before producers.

Daisey said: “There are five rounds and I’ve got through four of them so far which is great.

“The final round is in front of producers and at an arena so it will be an amazing experience to perform in front of lots of people.

“I’m still deciding which song to perform, I want to keep my options open but am practising a few.”

It’s not the first time Daisey will have performed at an arena – last year she made it to the Bootcamp stage of the X Factor and performed at Wembley arena.

She added: “I got down to the last 40 girls last year – it was an amazing experience. I got to perform in front of 5,000 people which was amazing and it gave me a good idea of what to do to improve and learn.

I might go for it again next year.”

Daisey, who has just left Shelley College and is hoping to go to Leeds Music College in September, only started singing aged 12 when she entered a school competition.

Teachers, who thought she was quiet in class, noted her ability and her mum booked her singing lessons as a result. She also plays piano and is learning the guitar.

“I like so many music styles,” she added. “Cheryl told me on the X Factor I had a country music style of voice but I like to take any song and make it suit my voice.”

Daisey is being cheered on by parents Vincent and Nicola, plus siblings Ellie, 18, Vinny, 14, and Frankie, 12.
