With indie rockers Audit Control consigned to the local history books, the much loved band’s former drummer is the first to emerge with a new project.

After being hidden at the back of the room behind the kit, Bobb Shaw has put himself firmly centre stage for his new solo acoustic work.

And just a few months in to his new project he has already received confidence boosting validation after he was approached to audition for BBC talent show The Voice.

Bobb said the process of recording Audit Control’s album had led to their demise and it had never been released.

He said: “It was musical differences so I’m pursuing my own career now.

“It’s just one of those things. Some people were happier than others when it ended, but we’re all still good friends, there’s no hard feelings.

“A couple of the others are thinking about starting something new but I’m gonna stick with my own career now.

“I’m centre stage, where I belong I feel.

“I enjoyed playing the drums but my first love is guitar and vocals.

“I’ve been writing songs for the past couple of years and I’ve always had my own material while I’ve been with the band.

“I’ve recorded an EP and my single Whiskey was played on BBC Leeds.

“A few days following that I was contacted by a producer of The Voice.

“I’m still debating whether to do it but it’s great to get such a good response.”

Bobb Shaw will be performing at Ricci’s, Dean Clough, Halifax, on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 25.

The event runs from 3pm until late.
