DJ DOORLY has moved into the big league. The Huddersfield DJ has been signed up as pop star Usher’s personal DJ and set producer.

The American R&B star ranks as one of the best selling artists of all time having sold 65 million records worldwide.

He explained: “I’ve been signed up as Usher’s DJ and set producer.

“We did two shows in Ibiza last week where we perform together a brand new dance music version of his live show with me DJing and him singing and dancing – so that was a lot of fun!”

Doorly also revealed he is set to hook up with some of the biggest names in music including rap icon Grandmaster Flash, Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears and Little Boots.

He said: “I got a call off Grandmaster Flash the other day and he wants to do some stuff so we’re working on three tracks together.

“He’s got the Sugar Hill Gang, Busta Rhymes and people like that who want to jump on a track so I think eventually we’ll have something big.

“I’ve also started working on collaborations with The Reverend and the Makers and the lead singer from the Scissor Sisters, so should have some big releases by the end of the summer.

“I’m also doing stuff with Dizzy Rascal’s label, I’m producing all his new acts, Lethal Bizzle is on one of my next tracks and I’ve done one with Little Boots.

“I’ve also just produced a track for Tricky (Massive Attack).”

Last month Doorly revealed to WoW that he spent so much time travelling to gigs around the world that he had sold his Huddersfield home and moved to Ibiza.

And the former Huddersfield University student admitted 2011 was proving to be a big year for him.

He said: “The next step is really getting bigger vocals.

“It’s all looking really good, I’ve got really good management now the same as Fatboy Slim and Pete Tong and I’ve got the same agent as Deadmaus.

“I’m in a really good place at the moment, I think we’re going to have some really good collaborations coming up.

“I’m really excited about the Grandmaster Flash gig as he’s one of my heroes and he invented hip-hop basically.”

Doorly, who launched Huddersfield’s famous Afterparty brand, is also continuing his hectic summer schedule DJing around the world.

He added: “Last week I was DJing back to back with Zane Lowe and Mark Ronson at two shows in Majorca and Ibiza and also hosting the Radio 1/1Xtra event in Majorca before shooting back to the States for a three week festival tour.”

Afterparty is set to relaunch on Sunday, August 28, at Camel Club with Kissy Sell Out.
