A HEADY mix of jazz, funk and hip hop is set to have music lovers’ eardrums jumping at the Lawrence Batley Theatre on May 29.

The theatre will play host to Jazz Funktion, featuring Leeds group The Haggis Horns and Huddersfield collective Extra Curricular.

Eight-piece group Extra Curricular blend the raucousness of hiphop, the improvisation of jazz and the sounds of soul.

The collective features jazz vocalist Ruby Wood, Huddersfield rapper Jack Flash and Huddersfield soul singer Thabo Mkwananzi.

They are backed by Noah Burton on drums, Jack Button on bass, plus guitarist Martin Chung, Jezreal Joseph on alto sax and musician Mark Cowley on tenor and baritone sax.
