LAST week, we launched our brand new Fresh Music section on our website – a place where tracks and videos from bands featured in Fresh can be played by our readers.
Now, we’re bringing you something else totally new....Fresh’s very own social networking site.
The site - Huddersfield Fresh - can be found at www.huddersfieldfresh.ning.com – or you can simply click on the link from the Fresh Music and Fresh sections of the main Examiner website at http://www.examiner.co.uk/leisure-and-entertainment/unsigned-bands/ .
You might ask why we’ve set up our own social network when Myspace and Facebook already exist.
Well, we wanted a place where you can talk about Fresh and all the things that matter to you in Huddersfield.
It’s a place where you can find out what’s on, discover new local talent, meet friends and share your views on music, film, fashion, nightlife, life, love and everything!
But it doesn’t stop there. We know there’s a huge wealth of talented musicians out there in Huddersfield.
A select few are featured each week in Fresh and on our Fresh Music site – but we asked ourselves, ‘What about those bands not featured each week? Surely the world deserves to hear their new talent too?’
Huddersfield Fresh was the answer. You can upload your tracks and videos, tell the world about your talents and promote yourself to win support from local people.
It was giving bands and artists the chance to promote themselves that inspired us to create Huddersfield Fresh. But it’s not just for musicians.
Anyone can sign up, create a profile and join in.
Maybe you want to discover new bands? You might want to show off your photography or art skills?
Perhaps you want to promote an event, meet friends, or even write a blog? Whatever it is, you can do it here.
You can customise your profile page, upload music and share your photos.
You can even view the Spotted Out photos featured in Fresh each week. If you’re featured you can buy your photo easily by clicking on the link to our photo sales website.
The idea of Huddersfield Fresh is experimental – in fact, we may be the only local newspaper stepping into social networking territory.
As there’s no precedent to follow, we want Fresh readers to get involved and make it their own.
Huddersfield Fresh is a new and exciting venture for all of us – so get on board and help us make it a successful showcase for everything that’s happening in Huddersfield!
