Artists: Arcane Roots

Venue: Sound Control, Manchester

IF there is one thing the UK seems to be amazing at producing it is huge sounding three piece bands capable of blowing your mind whilst rocking you to the very core.

Over the last few years bands like Biffy Clyro and Muse have shown this to the world.

Arcane Roots are here tonight to show Manchester they are capable of following in those gigantic footsteps.

The band put their feet to the floor from the get-go and don’t let up for the duration of their set.

Crowds are not stupid and know when a band is faking enthusiasm.

All in attendance have nothing to worry about here.

There is nothing fake, no smoke and mirror tricks, this is three men playing their instruments with everything they can give.

No backing tracks, no samplers, just drums, bass and guitar.

Even when faced with some unfortunate technical gremlins the band plow through unphased, showing maturity and professional attitude far beyond their years.

Singer/guitarist Andrew Groves and bassist/vocalist Adam Burton throw themselves around the small Sound Control stage as if they were headlining an arena.

This is not where the impact of Arcane Roots lie though.

It really is all about the music with these guys.

A ridiculously tight rhythm section compliments the frenetic guitar work, creating angular sounds that explode into a huge anthemic sonic wall.

It is hard to explain how massive this band sound live but it really does feel like you are being beaten in the chest.

Beaten in a good way though.

Similarities can be made with their peers in Muse and, more noticeably, early Biffy Clyro but Arcane Roots are very much their own beast.

And, with the recent release of new album ‘Blood And Chemistry,’ performances like tonight and getting the right break, it can’t be long before they are standing shoulder to shoulder with their peers on the main stages of the world.
