ALT-INDIE band Your New Antique have been snapped up by a new label.

The band, formed at Huddersfield University, were signed to York’s Bad Bear Records but the label folded.

Now they have found a new home with London-based indie label The Animal Farm and are set to launch their first single at The Parish next weekend.

The band recently returned to Huddersfield University to record a string quartet for one of their new tunes.

Drummer, Ben Wallbanks, said joining the new label had been a real boost for the group.

He said: “I just sent them an email saying, ‘this is us do you fancy it?’ and they said yeah.

“We went down and had a meeting and they signed us up.

“It’s been good, the guys who own it are Finnish, they went on tour with loads of punk bands in the 1970s and now they’ve come over and set this up.”

The band went down to London last November to record four tracks, including the single Sirens, which is being released next Saturday.

The band have already put out an album on their own but Ben said they were hoping to release another album next year and were looking forward to getting back to playing in Huddersfield.

“We’ve not really been gigging that much because we’ve been recording and mastering and mixing,” he said.

“We’ve played Leeds quite a lot and we’ve done one in Manchester and one at The Hop in Wakefield.

“We’ve been applying for some little festivals, we’d like to play the Great Escape in Brighton and I’ve applied for a few little showcase SXSW style ones and hopefully we’ll get on to the BBC Introducing stuff as well.”

Your New Antique’s tour launches at The Parish on March 31 and will be followed by a UK tour throughout April.

The band will release a second single in June followed by another UK tour.
