Music plays a big part of the life of the University of Huddersfield.

Its series of lunchtime concerts is one of the ways in which it shares its talents with the town.

And another series is underway. University organist Thomas Moore will play at St Paul’s Hall on Wednesday, October 9.

In contrast, on Thursday October 17, the Dave Hassell-Andy Scott Duo perform their own brand of improvisation and new compositions.

Brett Baker, one of Europe’s leading brass players and principal trombonist with Black Dyke Mills Band, plays the venue on October 24.

To round off the month’s events, there will be a concert by Totem Contemporain, a Montreal-based group who will showcase the music which is written specifically for their instrumentation.

There’s much more to come and for more details go to www.hud.ac.uk/concerts .
