THEY’VE spent most of this year playing to crowds around the world – but now Kava Kava are back in Huddersfield to delight audiences in their hometown.

The funk/dance group will play at Bar 1:22 on December 7 at 10pm. The gig comes at the end of what has been a whirlwind year for the group.

They have played at the Beijing Midi Festival in China and secured a slot at the respected SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas – a festival widely considered to be THE place to spot unusual talent and the next big stars.

Kava Kava even took the stage at Glastonbury Festival this summer.

Singer Pat Fulgoni said: “2007 has been a pretty good year!ŠWe played in China and the States clocking up dates at ace events.”

In addition to an international live schedule, Kava Kava’s music has ‘broken America’, through the medium of television.

One of their tracks, Don’t Stop The Music, was used in popular US TV series, Weeds, when it launched in 2005.

Following on from that success, another Kava Kava track, TIC, has been used in the soundtrack for new HBO TV series, John From Cincinnati. They share a billing on the soundtrack with legends including Bob Dylan, Joe Strummer, Muse, Kasabian, U2 and David Byrne.

Both these tracks have been released as singles on Fulgoni’s record label, Chocolate Fireguard, complete with previously unreleased remixes.

They will be available through download sites, iTunes and Beatport, as will versions of Kava Kava track Beats for Cheats, remixed by Zion Train and Blue Amazon.

The band are currently in the studio recording several new tracks, including Moment of Clarity, Rise Above, Forwards and Everything. They look set to be released in early 2008 and can be previewed by visiting the band’s website at www.myspace.com/kavakavamusic.
