NERDIC is the fastest-growing language in Europe.

And no, it doesn’t come from a Norwegian with tonsillitis, but is the new way of communicating via technological terminology.

Website Pixmania.com says Nerdic – named after the nerds who sit in front of computers all day long – may be more widely spoken than any other European dialect.

So fast is this language growing that Pixmania has applied to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to recognise Nerdic as an official language spoken by Europe’s population of 700m.

They are hopeful of success as Cornish was recently recognised and that is only spoken by 2,000 people.

Expert Stuart Miles says, “It's incredible that I can describe an N96 with HSDPA, Wi-Fi with a five megapixel Carl Zeiss and GPS and be understood across Europe.”

Really? Not in our house, you can’t.

This may be fascinating to a nerd but is of as much interest to a normal human being as the Belgian national anthem.

Instead of granting Nerdic language status the Foreign Office should simply reply: “Get a life.’’
