There's quite a concert in store at Outlane next week.

For not only do you get to hear the voices of the Outlane Singers, but the top-level skills of musicians of the Threedom Reed Trio.

The trio will play the first half of the programme concert which will feature a selection of French pieces.

This is quite a coup for the Singers, getting a top notch professional ensemble to share their concert billing.

The choir, conducted by Suzanne Smelt, will sing Faure’s Requiem in the concert’s second half.

The organist for the concert, which is at Outlane Methodist Church, New Hey Road at 7.30pm on October 4, will be Geoffrey Lockwood with soloists Peter Cain (baritone) and Helen Carbutt (soprano).

The choir say they are delighted to be welcoming the Threedom Reed Trio which features oboist Elizabeth Kenwood, clarinettist John Mellor and bassoonist David Baker.

Elizabeth Kenwood studied at the Royal Academy of Music and went on to win several scholarships before embarking on a professional performing career .

That career has taken her all over the world with her piano and oboe Kenwood-Herriot Duo.

She freelances as an orchestral and chamber music player and teaches woodwind in many West Yorkshire schools.

John Mellor graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music and has since played with all the orchestras in the North of England, both as a soloist and as an orchestral player.

He is kept busy as an instrumental and orchestral coach.

David Baker graduated from Huddersfield Polytechnic, and as a postgraduate student from The Royal Northern College of Music.

He has played with the BBC Philharmonic and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras and since 1991 David has been sub principal bassoon with the Orchestra of Opera North. David is also a composer of chamber music.

Tickets £5.00 / pay on the door, in aid of choir funds.
