AFTER a year in the wilderness one of Huddersfield’s most popular nights of live music is back.

Psychotic Reaction re-launches tomorrow at a venue once famous for its live tunes.

The popular monthly night was hosted by The Parish but is moving to new Queensgate venue The Zetland.

The bar has been re-branded a number of times but back in the 1980s it was renowned for hosting bands.

Promoter, Sean O’Toole, said: “We were actually thinking about taking it to Leeds or Manchester but we’ve decided there’s still space on Huddersfield’s live scene and we want to be loyal to the following that we’ve built up over the years.

“We’re relaunching at The Zetland and hopefully it will be a lot better for us as it’s near the university.

“We want to get students out at the weekend and get them to see some good bands.

“It’s for genuine music lovers, people who want to hear good live music and DJs who play more than the NME’s greatest hits. Not just stuff you hear on the radio, but some old stuff.”

Sean said he would be varying the line-up to transcend all genres and said he was working on bringing some bigger names from outside of Huddersfield to the night.

Opening up Saturday’s launch party are Holmfirth’s own BBC Radio 1 indie kids, French Soul Party, and Colne Valley blues rockers Tokyo Corner.

The night will also feature a DJ set from Sean’s co-promoter Ant Noore.

Doors 8pm. Entry is free.
