DYNAMIC rockers Himself share the music they make for the love of it, not for the prospects.

Based in suburbia between Huddersfield and Leeds and made up of experienced 30-somethings, the five-piece band have enough bulk and sophistication in their sound to satisfy even the most demanding fan of rock.

Their three-guitar riffs are tempered with sufficient melody and four-part vocal harmony to draw in fans of all music.

The band describe themselves as equal parts noisy guitar riffs and delicate melody, combining impassioned vocals and harmonies with the unique element of fragile passages topped with thoughtful, personal, and even humorous spoken narrative thrown in to the mix.

And while they love playing in front of crowds the band have started a new trend of broadcasting gigs live on the internet from the privacy of their own studio.

Singer Adam Calvert said he had come with the idea last year after being frustrated by dodgy sound quality and engineering at venues.

The band have now webcasted a total of four gigs, starting with their own and most recently for Leeds rockers Humanfly.

Adam said: “Being a guy in his late 30s I was really excited about trying to transport our music into someone’s home.

“Not being a first generation internet user it still feels somewhat magical to me.

“People come to gigs for the live experience but more often than not the quality’s not brilliant and I thought wouldn’t it be brilliant to offer that but with the sound quality being top notch.

“It’s especially suitable for fast technical music, as sometimes live it doesn’t come across very well.

“It’s also something a bit unusual as I don’t know anyone else who’s doing it.”

The band are currently working on new material and don’t have a gig scheduled until June, but curious music lovers can see their next webcast on April 28 via www.tinyurl.com/himselflive.

The performances are posted on YouTube channel ‘Himselflive’ afterwards.

All news about these events is tweeted out at @himselfband on Twitter.

They will be hosting a webcast for Canaya on Sunday, May 20, and have experimental Leeds rockers Castrovalva pencilled in for June.
